Special Days
July 4 – Independence Day
This celebration of the Red, White and Blue may be wonderful for Americans, but it is terrorizing for dogs! The BANGS! and BOOMS! and WHIZZZING! of fireworks unnerve many dogs and cats – some even panic and run away, so a lot of pets are lost every year.
July 11 – All-American Pet Photo Day
Whip out that camera and shoot some serious Fluffie images. Send the best ones to family and friends – don’t they wish she was their Bestie!
(See: National Day Calendar https://nationaldaycalendar.com/all-american-pet-photo-day-july-11/)
July 15 – National Pet Fire Safety Day
Sponsored by the The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), ADT Security Services and the American Kennel Club® (AKC)
July 21 – National Craft for your Local Shelters Day
Here’s the perfect opportunity to get the whole family involved and enrich the lives of shelter pets – make DIY items (toys, blankets and more) and donate them to your nearest shelter.
July 21 – No Pet Store Puppies Day
Tell your friends and family about the horrors in puppy mills. Urge them not to buy puppies – or spend any money at pet stores that also sell puppies – because they are contributing to the cruel treatment. Instead, adopt from a shelter or rescue or foster.
